Stage One Dance Studio offers contemporary dance classes in Adelaide for Fun, Technique and Performance/competition. In these classes, the students will learn basic barre work combined with modern stretching.
This class is an athletic form of dance, with a strong technical focus which allows choreographers & dancers to move between and blend these dance genres together easily.
Sexy dance not your thing? Jump into this contemporary-style choreography class with cute leaps and jumps and plenty of dramatic spins. We recommend that you have completed Level 2 before jumping into this class.
Contemporary dance is very interpretive in its choreography and often focuses on emotions or storytelling. Contemporary can be balletic or abstract, jazz-influenced or lyrical, structured or unconventional.
Contemporary dance classes are offered by Michelle Maree's School of Dance. Students are encouraged to strive for their very best and enjoy all that dance offers. Teachers keep dance classes fun, whilst maintaining discipline and respect throughout.
The I.S.T.D. syllabus is taught in these classes. It is a wonderful progressive graded syllabus used internationally, which builds a solid technique rich in the understanding of rhythms; and encompasses lyrical, percussive, jazz, musical theatre and comtemporary styles.
Available for students enrolled in RAD Grade 3 ballet & up.
We also offer Contemporary and Lyrical classes. Most of our junior ballet students choose to do the Contemporary / Lyrical class and our major students have Contemporary included in the full Ballet course. The students have performed some beautiful numbers in our end of year concert.
Classes will include technique such as extensions, turns, floor work and jumps. In addition students will learn choreography combinations and explore improve.
This class is not only about giving the students a sound understanding of traditional contemporary dance technique while having fun. It also propels them to consider how dance works are structured. Allowing each individual the chance to experiment in a class situation.
