Ajyal (Generation) Schools : UAE's New Model of Schooling

As the innovative run continues to explore UAE’s futuristic and fast-thinking strategy for all sectors, the education ministry announced a new schooling model to keep up with the latest technologies and the need for knowledge-driven societies. 

 

The new schooling model known as ‘Ayjal Schools or Generation Schools’ was announced on 6 June 2022 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. 

 

 

The new model will apply to 10 schools in the beginning phase with the government bearing all the expenses of the targetted 14,000 students in the first phase. 

 

Initially, The Ayjal Model will be free of cost covering around 14,000 students in the starting phase. The new model was approved by the UAE Cabinet as part of the cycle 1 stage of the government education sector.

Ajyal Schools project reflects the great importance that the UAE attaches to the education sector, based on its major role in enhancing the journey of development. This project comes as part of our plans to develop the educational system in the country, provide more options, opportunities, and educational models for our students, and qualify a leading generation capable of creating the future, supporting and developing the education sector is a continuous process.

 

How Does the New Model Work?

The new model is aimed at bringing an innovative education system and experience for the students by establishing UAE value system and national identity coupled with a national and international curriculum targeting advanced learning outcomes. 

 

The national curricula include Islamic education, Arabic Language, Social Studies and Moral Education under the supervision of expert educators. The international curriculum primarily focuses on Maths and Science subjects among others. 

 

 

In the beginning phase, 10 schools are selected where the new model will be implemented. Over the next three years, the goal is to implement the new generation school model in a total of 28  different schools. The new model will be applied to all students from grade one to grade four. 

 

This new model is in line with the modernization plan laid out by the Emirates Schools Establishment to improve its educational output quality over the next few years. The Ayjal model will be operated under the leadership of leading private sectors education groups such as Taaleem, Aldar Education and Bloom Education.
