As the world is engulfed in the fight against the infamous COVID-19 pandemic, UAE has been active to stipulate many of the functions across the country including the Education sector.
As a precaution against the coronavirus pandemic, the UAE Ministry of Education has extended the school closure and ordered e-learning as a solution to ensure the continuance of education and learning amid this global crisis.
Institutes across UAE have been quick to reinforce the necessary infrastructure development for supporting uninterrupted distance education. Star Kid’s For Children Development has announced e-learning sessions for ‘Maths, Science and English’. The move reflects the instructions and guidelines by the UAE Ministry of Education to include e-learning as a mode of education until further notice by the authorities:
‘All Educational Institutions MUST shift completely to the use of Distance Learning’, Dr. Amna Al Dahak, MoE spokesperson.
The directives came as a swift response to the coronavirus outbreak that has shocked the world since the start of the year 2020. The world has confronted this pandemic on several fronts and authorities all over the globe have brought several ramifications to the orderly pattern of business from education to other important sectors of the economy.
‘In order to ensure the continuity of education under these exceptional circumstances and at the same time maintain the safety and security of students and school community, it was decided that the distance learning system continues to be applied’, Dr. Amna Al Dahak, MoE spokesperson.
The repercussions of this pandemic are still at the initial stage as the world braces for a unified response to this pandemic in a timely manner until a vaccine or any other form of possible treatment comes through. As for the education sector in UAE, these new developments about distance learning do bring a hope for the students.
‘We believe that there is a need to supplement school learning with novel ways and new conceptual methods. With schools now offering online classes, we need to support students to enhance learning in a simpler and advantageous manner’, Savilla George, Director of Star Kids For Children Development about the launch of e-learning classes.
The program is strategically designed with a focus on these three important subjects of Maths, Science and English.
“These are core subjects and we believe if the foundation for these subjects is strong, the children become more confident. We 'Engage-Explore-Discuss-Apply-Evaluate' method, emphasizing on skill development. We make them THINK and WORK independently’, Savilla George, Director of Star Kids For Children Development.
According to the new decree by the Ministry of Education, training institutes are not allowed to conduct any kind of training that requires students to be physically present, for a period of three month from 5 April, until 2 Jul 2020. Under these circumstances, training institutes taking the initiative to offer e-learning is a remarkable leap to counter the hindrance of traditional in-class education amid coronavirus.
‘Starkids for Children Development has been active in the skill enhancement field for the last 16 years with excellent results and feedback. There is a need to fill the gap between learning and skill development because the skills will move the child to enhanced learning, understanding and retention of the subject. School learning and our application based teaching has a powerful impact on their performance. All our courses are designed for understanding and enhancing the learning experience’, Savilla George, Director of Star Kid’s For Children Development.
