Adult Care Workers need to have the right values, behaviours, competences, and skills to provide high quality compassionate care and support.

What Does This Course Invole
Throughout the apprenticeship, individuals will acquire a diverse range of skills to effectively support the individuals they work with. They will learn to provide personalised care and support according to individual care plans, promote choice and participation, and contribute to the development of care plans. They will support individuals with various impairments, ensuring dignity and person-centred care, while demonstrating empathy and cultural sensitivity.
Effective communication will be emphasised, including verbal and non-verbal communication, adapting to individuals' preferences, and reducing barriers. Apprentices will also learn about safeguarding, recognising signs of abuse and responding appropriately.
Health promotion, infection control, safe handling, and fire safety procedures will be covered, along with monitoring health and wellbeing. Self-reflection, continuous learning, and professional boundaries are vital aspects, as well as working collaboratively, resolving conflicts, and accessing additional skills when required.
You will be able to work effectively as part of a team. You will always act within the limits of your competence, knowing who to ask for help and support if you are not sure. You will work within agreed ways of working, following the relevant standards, policies and protocols used in your workplace including the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England.
Assessment Method
To achieve this apprenticeship you, along with your employer and assessor, will agree when you are ready and competent to undertake your independent end-point assessment, which will assess the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for this role. ## FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
Upon completion, you may choose to progress to a higher-level apprenticeship such as the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker. This would enable you to further your professional career development and potentially work toward securing a senior adult care worker role.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications required to enrol onto this apprenticeship. However, you will be assessed to ensure that you can achieve English and maths functional skills to a minimum of Level 1.
You must also sit the Level 2 English and maths assessment prior to the completion of your apprenticeship. You will also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you find this. To be an apprentice, you will need to find a suitable employer.
