Overview

  • Become an expert in storytelling using 2D and 3D moving visuals with the Bachelor of Digital Design (Animation).
  • Immerse yourself in the experience of bringing characters, worlds and ideas to life. Use a blend of traditional and digital techniques and portray your vision through 2D and 3D mediums. 
  • Using industry standard software, gain hands-on experience with animation production, including character design, character rigging, narrative structure and 3D lighting and rendering.
  • Craft compelling animated experiences for film, TV, games and online platforms using artistic expression, technology and narrative mastery. 
  • Produce captivating, animated works that resonate with a wide range of audiences by collaborating with industry professionals, mentors and fellow students.
  • Customise your degree by combining the animation major with a digital design minor such as games design, graphic design, or interaction design, or select another study option within or outside the School of Creative Arts.

Pre-requisites
To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

English (Units 3 & 4, C) 

  • We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

Portfolio and interview entry information
If you don't have an ATAR, you can apply for a portfolio and interview entry. Applicants must provide:

  • A portfolio of design work. There should be at least eight high quality images of past work and can include digital work or images of physical artefacts. 
  • A written statement (500 words) addressing what inspires you to want to become a designer in a particular discipline. 
  • A school exit statement or evidence of previous education standard achieved.

Special Entry Scheme

  • Special entry schemes for admissions may increase your Rank, through the allocation of additional points in certain circumstances, such as educational disadvantage where you live, and subjects you passed.

Tafe (VET) qualification

  • If you have completed a qualification from a TAFE or qualified private provider, you may be able to use these qualifications to meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

Work and life experience

  • You may be able to use your work experience and other adjustment factors to increase your selection rank and meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

English language requirements

  • You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.
  • If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study UniSQ's UniReady courses TPP0122 and TPP0123, or the English for Academic Purposes EAP2 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

  • You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previously studied or have relevant work experience. This will help to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.
