It includes CPR and relief of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) for Adult, Child and Infant and Automated External Defibrillation techniques presented with videos, demonstrations and practice. Accredited by the HPCSA for 14 CPD points (incl 1 Point for Ethics).

The Academy of Accident & Emergency Medicine provides continuing medical education and professional development to Health Care Practitioners to achieve competence and skills in the management of the critically ill or injured patients.
The Academy has been actively involved in teaching and training over 3 000 Medical Doctors and Emergency Medical Personnel from South Africa, UK, Europe and Southern African countries.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives. The course is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings or by those in a healthcare training program.
Participants will be able to perform the steps of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, basic airway manoeuvres and rescue breathing in casualties of all ages. After the course, the candidates will be skilled in the use of bag-valve resuscitators and in the technique of automated external defibrillation.
