Beauty Therapy (VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate)

The VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Beauty Therapy is a vocational qualification confirming your competence as an assistant junior beauty therapist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as an assistant junior beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

Entry into this qualification can be via previous attainment of an Entry-level qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test or interview. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as an assistant junior beauty therapist, including preparing and maintaining the salon treatment work areas, effectively working with clients and colleagues, and and taking responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety.

You will also develop your understanding and skills by selecting several optional specialist units which include: assisting with facial skincare services, assisting with day make-up services, assisting with nail services, and assisting with salon reception duties. The structure of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills required for a career as an assistant junior beauty therapist.

Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of the skin, health and safety, client care, and beauty product knowledge. You will develop a range of technical assisting skills in beauty therapy services. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you in communicating effectively with clients when assisting with salon reception duties.
