  • Behavioural based safety is an approach to safety that focuses on seafarer's behaviour as the cause of most work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Prevention of near misses, injuries, accidents is relative to correcting series of unsafe behaviours on part of every person on board. With bbs approach we can not only bring down accidents we can also prevent them.

Scope of the course

Upon completion of the bbsc course, the candidates will be able to:

  • Understand that each person on board can make a difference on shipboard safety with their behaviour.
  • Take ownership of their safe and unsafe behaviours.
  • Identify behaviour which reduces the risk of injury
  • Collect data on the frequency and consistency of those behaviours and provide feedback and reinforcement to ensure support of those positive behaviours.
