This is a vocationally qualification offering you the opportunity to demonstrate an achievement of practical skills, understanding and knowledge in bricklaying and will provide you with a good introduction to the Construction industry.
What is a Pre-apprenticeship (also known as a Study Programme)?
A pre-apprenticeship is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an
apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Pre-apprenticeship will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.
What does the course cover?
This Level 1 qualification will provide you with a range of bricklaying skills and knowledge. You will also develop an understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry.
What will I achieve?
On successful completion, you will achieve an NOCN Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying.
Once you have achieved a Level 1 in Bricklaying, you will then be able to progress onto further trade qualifications such as a Level 2 Bricklaying Apprenticeship.
What are the entry requirements?
You must achieve or have achieved a GCSE Grade 2 or above in maths and English.

This course will include decorative brickwork, herringbone, basket weave, dog toothing and dentil courses.
As an apprenticeship you are employed as full-time members of staff and typically work for an employer three to four days a week. One or two days a week is spent at college, studying for nationally-recognised qualifications in the same profession as the apprenticeship.
This Level 1 course is a mixture of practical and theory, with the majority of the time spent in the workshop, developing the hand skills needed to build cavity walls, solid walls, blockwork and the ability to transfer levels.
This course will fully prepare you for a craft apprenticeship in Bricklaying. The course aim is to improve employability prospects by developing the learners
