The Mission of SEWAFRICA is to provide the opportunity for development and training in the fashion industry that will enable individuals in the informal fashion sector to receive training that will facilitate the generation of income through self employment and formal employment as a major contributor to the revitalization of the Inner City and the clothing industry.
In addition, SEWAFRICA aims to meet the training and development needs of the formal sector of the Fashion Industry and thereby promote and advance the industry by providing skills and individual development opportunities.
This qualification is an introduction to basic garment design and construction. It includes the history of costumes, textile exploration and business basics like fashion planning and professional practice management for fashion designers.
The course covers the fundamentals of industry relevant practices and is taught by experienced facilitators. We have over 25 years of experience in the industry, and the course has been developed by expert facilitators with an in-depth subject knowledge.
In the beginner courses you will learn to sew a bag, a cushion and a pyjama pant.
This 4 part series of classes is the first level of a longer course for hobby sewers. A total of 12 hours over 4 mornings. The course is for absolute beginners which means no experience is needed. Adults and Teens from 14 years old are welcome to join this course.
From fashion illustration to drafting your first set of patterns from your sketched designs and constructing them with industry quality workmanship and techniques.
