Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Understand and support children's development
Safeguard the welbeing of children and young people
Support the development of speech and language needs in children
Understand the effects of transitions on children
On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning [NCFE]
Class format and activities
You will be working in a group or individually on written and reading tasks, projects and interactive activities. You will participate in discussions on relevant topics. You will also be observed and assessed in your placement.
Entry requirements
You will need Maths and English at Level 2 or above. You will also need to arrange your own placement in a school setting and have a current DBS check. These must be in place before the course starts. You will be assessed in the workplace by a qualified assessor.
What you need to know before you enrol
Excellent attendance of over 90% is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time of 12 hours a week at your placement, 6 hours tuition time plus additional tutorial time, homework and independent study of up to 10 hours per week. We therefore expect students to be able to demonstrate sufficient commitment to and interest in the course.

You can go straight into employment or further study in the education sector. Successful completion of this qualification will confirm your competence in any of the following job roles: - Teaching/classroom/learning support assistant.
