This one-day course is designed for employers, managers, supervisors and safety personnel who have the role and responsibilities of a contractor or a prime contractor on a worksite.
Participants gain an understanding of contract management processes as they apply under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. They also learn when a prime contractor is required and the responsibilities associated with this role.
Course Focus
Review applicable Saskatchewan OHS Regulations as they apply to multi-employer worksites and managing of health and safety systems
Define the roles and responsibilities of an owner, contractor, prime contractor and employer
Define classification of prescribed activities and how they apply to the prime contractor
Distinguish when contractors and prime contractor are required on a worksite
Recognize who holds the greatest degree of control on a multi-contractor site
Identify what is classified as a dangerous occurrence
Describe fines and offenses under the Criminal Code of Canada
Define the steps associated with project pre-planning, including bid packages, contract specifications and contract considerations
Describe owner obligations and pre-qualifications for the role of prime contractors
