Our Creative Writing Classes bring together young people who love to write, and experienced writers who have the skills to teach, nurture and inspire. Beginner and experienced writers are welcome! Young writers explore plot, character, setting, structure and editing as they build community, discover their writer’s voice and experiment with form and style.
Projects are varied and include poetry, playwriting, screenwriting, fantasy world-building, genre fiction, novel structure, flash fiction, graphic novel writing and more.
A typical class includes exploration of a writing technique, 2-3 inspiring creative writing prompts, and an opportunity to share work for encouragement or feedback.
The content of our writing classes is always new, so writers can grow with us year after year.
Semester 1 & 2: Both semesters are open to all writers, and both include varied prompts and techniques. Writers are invited to submit work to our annual anthology at the end of each semester, and the second half of semester 2 includes a focus on editing as we compile material for publication.
All writers are invited to a public reading, book launch and celebration at the end of the year.
