About Us
I am a Registered Nurse and Independent/Supplementary Prescribing. My nursing career was initially focused on Accident and Emergency care until I qualified as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner. I then worked in a nurse led unit, working up to Clinical Nurse Manager role in charge of the nursing team.
Being asked initially to just give a lecture on ankle injuries, I found my love of teaching, initially balancing clinical and academic work, in 2017 I took up a more permanent post in Higher Education.
This has led me to now work in a multi-disciplinary team, teaching Advanced Care Practitioner students from nursing, physiotherapy and paramedic backgrounds.
My clinical/academic background allows me to offer lectures on clinical skills/assessment, minor injury management, minor health conditions and pain assessment.
This bitesize (10-minute) online Communication Skills Training course helps staff build on their existing communication skills by providing guidance on initiating and responding to various forms of communication. It's suitable for all levels of staff within any type of organisation.
Open Dawes Training can provide a limited number of ongoing mentoring contracts for sports people, which will enable us to work with you during the course of a season (or part of); including at events if appropriate.
