Environmental Management System (EMS) specifies requirements that enable an organization to achieve the intended outcomes it sets for its environmental management system.

A systematic approach to environmental Management System can provide top management with information to build success over the long term and create options for contributing to sustainable development by

• Protecting the environment by preventing or mitigating adverse environmental impacts.
• Mitigating the potential adverse effects of environmental conditions on the organization.
• Assisting the organization in the fulfillment of compliance obligations.
• Enhancing environmental performance.
• Controlling or influencing the way the organization’s products and services are designed, manufactured, distributed, consumed and disposed by using a life cycle perspective that can prevent environmental impacts from being unintentionally shifted elsewhere within the life cycle.

Learning Objectives:

On successful completion of this course, the students will be ableto:

• Explain the purpose of an environmental management system, of environmental management systems standards,of a management system audit and third-party certification,and the business and societal benefits of improving environmental performance
  Explain the role and responsibilities of an auditor to plan, conduct,report and follow-up an environmental management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC17021, as applicable

Course Format:

• Each day is divided into four sessions,two be fore lunch and two after lunch.
  The first session precedes the mid-morning break and the second follows mid morning break.
  The afternoon sessions are similarly divided.
  The output of the exercise are a part of the formal continuous assessment and will there fore be marked.
  Although the exercises are group exercises individual score to the delegate will be based on their overall participation.
  A mock audit–Roleplay will be conducted on Days 4 & 5 of the Training for the delegates to demonstrate the skills learned and understood during the cour All session are interactive and delegated participation is encouraged.
  You will need to allow sufficient time to read and understand the notes which have been provided.
