Description:
Our immersion summer camps bring a lot of fun! Your child will learn words and phrases in French or Spanish while playing. Our camp is ideal for children to start to experience a second language without the stress of an academic curriculum and for students who are in French or Spanish immersion to continue practicing the language during the summer.
Objective:
Our approach at Polyglots is to immerse your child in French or Spanish in a fun and natural way. Children will learn through songs, stories, games, and play, guided by a teacher who is fluent in the target language. Children have so much fun that they don’t even realize they are learning.
Activities:
In our activities, we spend a lot of time outside playing games, building things, doing science experiments, and making art/crafts. As they play, they will learn words and phrases in Spanish or French.
Themes:
In our camps, we have different themes every week. We make imaginary trips around the world. We will travel together to different countries, and learn about their cultures and traditions while playing.
Our Programs
We offer programs in French and Spanish. Our programs are online and in-person. We run summer camps in Calgary and live online activities with an instructor where your child can join us from anywhere.
Who is this For
Our programs are ideal for children to start experiencing a second language without the stress of an academic curriculum. Also, for students who are in French or Spanish immersion, they can continue building their language skills in our variety of activities.
Benefits
Learning a second language provides a child with extraordinary advantages. Numerous studies show that speaking a second language boosts cognitive abilities, such as overall memory, problem-solving, and creativity.
Children who speak a second language gain many social benefits, such as enhanced empathy, greater self-confidence, and deeper respect for cultural differences in others.
Did you know that there are almost 8 million French speakers in Canada? Although approximately 85% of them live in Quebec, there are over a million who reside in other parts of the country, which means if you live in Canada, you probably come into contact with the language on a daily basis.
Learning a new language is literally embarking on a journey. Despite the excitement that it generates at first, we can quickly face discouragement before the efforts required to start noticing results. This is a normal feeling.
We specialize in preparing federal government employees for SLE tests in French. These prove integral for producing coherent responses to test questions. Our methods are instrumental for the learning process and can support higher test scores. Instructors enrich and support learners.
