The Hamilton School of Music currently offers lessons in plectrum (or pick-style) and finger-style guitar. From the onset of lessons, students are taught to read music.

As with piano instruction, exposure to the many different styles of music available to the contemporary guitar player is promoted by instructors.

At the completion of grade expectations, the opportunity to take examinations is provided to students and teachers will prepare their students for all phases of the examination requirements.

Brad studied Jazz Guitar, Solo Performance at McMaster University with Bob Shields, Honours Bachelor of Music; Jazz Theory and Harmony with Chris Chaley, jazz composer and performer; and Classical Guitar Performance with Brian Katz, Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music. He performs at various professional venues, social events and fundraisers; and has opened for many musicians, including the Talking Heads and the B-52’s. Brad has taught electric, acoustic and bass guitar since 1997. He is a versatile player with a command of flat picking, fingerstyle, and classical techniques; and he is familiar with a wide range of musical styles and artists. As a retired member of the Ontario College of Teachers, Brad is a dedicated and friendly instructor who loves teaching music.
