Course Details

Hip hop is a street style of dance that is said to have originated in New York and the Bronx in the 1960s to 1970s. It includes a wide range of styles and typically involves a free and soulful expression of movement.

At JE Dancehouse we teach all different styles of Hip Hop dancing. We teach a clean style of Hip Hop with music that is appropriate for all ages. We like to teach all different styles to teach students the appreciation for the Hip Hop style.

Hip Hop classes at JE Dancehouse start from the age of six.

  • Renae is a talented dance, acrobatics art and musical theatre teacher. She loves sharing her love and passion for the arts with her students and is excited to join JE Dancehouse. Renae started dancing at the age of four and immediately fell in love with the art of dance. She grew up training in the styles of jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, irish dancing, musical theatre and acrobatics. Throughout this time, she completed all Royal Academy of Dance graded and major examinations under the guidance of Dale-Maree Coles (ARAD Adv T Dip RAD TC RAD examiner). Renae furthered her dance education by attending a number of summer schools with Queensland Ballet. In addition to this, she trained with the Expressions Dance Company, subsequently performing with the company in ‘Carmen Suite’. In 2018, Renae completed her Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts at ED5 International Performing Arts Academy. Here, she trained with some of the best people in the industry. These include William Alexander Forsythe, Leslie Bell, Phillip Filo, Nathan Sheens, Nikki Snelson, Deanne Berry and Keith Hawley among others. Further to this, she has also completed her acrobatic teaching course and is now a qualified acrobatics art teacher. Renae’s passion for the arts also extends to Musical Theatre. She has performed leading and chorus roles in a wide variety of productions including: Annie, Aida, A Chorus Line, West Side Story, Crazy for You and Spring Awakening. In Renae’s words: dance enables students to express themselves, giving them the courage and self-confidence to believe in themselves and to know that they can be whatever they want to be.
