Course Description  

This regular online IELTS Preparation course has been specially prepared for those working toward Academic and General Training tests. It provides an overall understanding of the format, assessment, and information about results. The 24-hour course rigorously covers all 4 skills (Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing) focusing on test taking strategies to complete the test with more confidence.

It is designed for those who have reached a suitable High-Intermediate level of English and provides them with plenty of opportunities to practice questions, tasks and work under timed conditions in a supportive environment. 

The course has 8 lessons, 3 hours each, which takes place over 4 weeks. Each student-centered lesson has a series of communicative tasks which work toward independent study and confidence before taking the IELTS.  

Note: It is not advised for students to take this course until they have achieved High-Intermediate level English. Because the course is short, it is important that students supplement time with practice tests at home to achieve a successful result.

Speaking:  

• Use descriptive and idiomatic language accurately.  
• Prepare for longer talk/ answers.  
• Explain/ describe ideas with opinion.  
• Use natural linking words.  
• Identify effective responses.  

Writing:  

• Fully respond to a variety of IELTS writing tasks.  
• Plan and organize ideas in timed conditions.  
• Write using a logical structure with paragraphs and including adequate supporting details and examples with effective linking language.  
• Use a variety of language appropriate to each task.             

Reading:  

• Understand a variety of difficulties/ length of texts.  
• Understand and answer a variety of question types.  
• Use reading strategies to identify main ideas and details in timed conditions.   
• Find paraphrase in questions and texts.  

Listening:  

• Use strategies for listening, such as predicting answers and listening for key words/ paraphrase.  
• Identify specific sounds, numbers, letters.  
• Follow the ideas during a longer talk.  
• Use series of strategies to find key details and words in texts with only one listen.
