This workshop is perfect for the sewist who wants to take a dive into the big wide world of quilting. We will teach you the basics beginning with explaining the elements of a quilt and teaching the practical skills of cutting with a rotary cutter and sewing with a quarter inch seam allowance and will finish off with sandwiching, basting and binding so you have a little mini quilt to take home. If this terminology is like a foreign language, then this is the class for you! Our goal with this class is to get a brand new quilter a little more primed for our lengthier quilt classes, or set you up to conquer a project on your own. You should have basic machine skills to take this class (one of ‘Intro to Sewing’ classes is sufficient) but you needn’t have any experience with quilting.
We want to serve our community by inspiring a love for fabric and sewing. We love beautiful, high quality fabrics and notions, and the amazing projects that can be made with them, regardless of your experience with a needle and thread.
With materials to suit every skill level, and a knowledgeable, approachable staff here to help guide you, you’re invited to visit Patch Halifax and discover the possibilities for your next or first sewing project!
