The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a substantial vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as a junior beauty therapist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a junior beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.
What Will I Learn?
You will study: Facial skincare, waxing, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, client care and health and safety as mandatory units. To further enhance your employment and studies, we have carefully selected additional units that must be achieved including spray tanning techniques, reception duties and displaying stock to promote sales.
You will study Anatomy and Physiology alongside these practical units. There are externally set exams for each of these units. We will also offer you opportunities to further enhance your skills with additional courses which will be optional and dependent on your progression and development.
All of your studies will be carried out in a fully working salon, you will be expected to work on external clients, and on each other. Your practical assessments will take place within the salons, and providing your own clients for assessments will help you to achieve.
The theoretical elements for this qualification is undertaken with externally set exams, based on the anatomy and physiology requirements of the area of study, and the practical elements also.
You will also be required to study an essential skills wales qualification in either Numeracy/Literacy/Digital literacy or a GCSE ,alongside Beauty, of which is a mandatory requirement.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Maths and English/Welsh first Language), or equivalent level 1 qualifications
Assessment
You will be assessed on your practical skills in our fully working salon on external clients. You will be expected to achieve the 10 externally set examinations. You will build a portfolio of evidence during your studies. You will also study an essential skill's wales qualification .
Career Progression
This qualification will allow you to progress onto: Level 3 Beauty Therapy, Level 3 Nail Technology, which is strongly recommended to achieve your full potential for the professional requirements of the industry, or to seek employment within the sector.
