The Makeup 101 Program is a certificate program that does not require a student to take a State exam upon completion. Once the student has completed the program, they will have a basic understanding in the foundation of makeup application.

The student will be qualified to obtain employment at department store beauty counters, salons and as an independent contractor at an entry level position.

The Makeup program is a 60 clock hour program of study designed to introduce students to the art of makeup application. Additionally, the student will receive information and training, skin care, client consultation, eye color, foundation blending, full-face application and the business of makeup.

 

The Makeup Course Is Designed To Provide Techniques That Are Required In:

  • Bridal Makeup
  • Natural Beauty
  • Advertising/Retail Cosmetics

 

As speed and competence increases, students will be challenged to do various projects. The students' work will be critiqued and captured in a photo shoot.

Bennett Career Institute is dedicated to providing an education in make-up artistry for the aspiring make up professional. We have trained thousands of makeup artists in the DC/Metropolitan area.

All of the artistry classes are taught by professional, experienced, certified/licensed instructors. Our curriculum provides students with real world situations, and theory.

A certification is given upon completion of the course. A full makeup kit will accompany the course.

 

Week 1:

Day 1  Icebreakers, Teacher Introduction Administrative duties for class (sign contract, kit list, etc.)

Day 2  Skin Care 101: Identifying Tone, Type and Texture, Bacteria and sanitation (hands on)

Day 3  Color Theory: The Color Wheel, The Fitzpatrick Scale, Color Creation (hands on)

  • Professionalism and Integrity

  • Being the skin care and makeup authority

  • Keeping your station clean

  • Sanitation

 

Week 2

Diverse Client Visit !!

Day 1  Facial Types and Features Eyebrow and Eye shadow, and Mascara (hands on)

Day 2  Facial Types and Features Foundation and Blush (hands on)

Day 3  Facial Types and Features Highlight, Contour and Lips (hands on)

  • Client Consultation

  • Precision and Blending

  • Assessing Skin, Hair and Eye Color

  • Keep your station clean

 

Week 3

Contest!!

Day 1  Natural Beauty (hands on)

Day 2  Natural Beauty (hands on)

Day 3  Natural Beauty (hands on)

Week 4

Mandatory Field Trip to a Cosmetic Retail Store!!

Day 1  Glam Beauty application (hands on)

Day 2  Glam Beauty (hands on)

Day 3  Glam Beauty/(hands on)

  • Client Consultation

  • Assessing Skin, Hair and Eye Color

  • Keep your station clean

 

Week 5

Day 1  Bridal Makeup application (hands on)

Day 2  Contracts and Marketing Strategies and -Bridal Makeup (cont'd). (hands on)

Day 3  Social Media and Networking as a tool. An Assigned Project Due Related to the World of Makeup.

Week 6

Certificate Ceremony

Day 1  Advertising Retail Artistry. How to sell in a Makeup Environment (hands on)
