Graduation Requirements

To graduate with MITS, you need to have completed 96 credit points in one of the following specialisation streams. If you have completed successfully related undergraduate studies, you may be eligible to receive advanced standing through recognition of prior learning / credit transfer (RPL / CT) . To graduate you must have satisfied the requirements below:

  • Foundation units: 24 credit points
  • Core units: 24 credit points
  • Specialisation units: 18 credit points in one chosen specialisation stream
  • Elective units: 12 credit points
  • Project unit: 12 credit points
  • Research unit: 6 credit points

Specialisation Requirements
To obtain a specialisation in MITS, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Successfully complete at least 3 specialisation units from one nominated specialisation stream as listed in the following section.
  • Specialisation units must be studied at VIT to count towards specialisation criteria i.e. any specialisation units marked as RPL/Credit Transfers will not be counted towards specialisation, unless with the approval of the Dean.
  • Project units must be related to the student’s chosen specialisation i.e. students in a project team must be working in a role relevant to the chosen specialisation. RPL/Credit Transfers is normally not granted for project units, unless with the approval of the Dean.
