Math Programme

In an ideal situation, no student needs tuition. However, in reality, there are situations where outside-school support is beneficial. Reasons may be:

• The student is not attentive in class due to various reasons (tiredness, distractions, lack of motivation, etc)
• The student does not ask questions in class to clarify doubts
• The student finds it difficult to keep up with the pace of lesson
• There is poor teacher-student communication
• The student is unable to bridge the gap between classroom learning and assessment standards
• The student does not revise or practise on his/her own

In my many years of teaching and guiding youths of various academic standards, I have always been able to build up a good rapport with them so that communication is open and learning can take place. Students have testified that I inspire them with my passion for the subject Mathematics and motivate them to want to do better. It is important to build up the motivation of each child as this is akin to igniting a flame that will then carry on burning on its own.

Group Tuition

In a small group, the teacher is able to guide the student's learning through clear explanation of concepts, examples and carefully-crafted notes. Students learn better in this environment than in the school classroom, as group size is small and there is no disruption due to discipline issues, administrative tasks to be fulfilled, etc.

Everyone present is keen to learn and improve. There is ample opportunity to ask questions during the lesson. During practice session, the teacher is able to give feedback and guide the student toward mastery of the concept. Each session, materials and worksheets will be provided by the teacher that will cover a current topic.

The tuition centre is air-conditioned, well-lit and every student has use of a full-sized desk and chair. Students who wish to learn from home have the option of joining the lesson via Zoom.

Student Success

I began full-time tutoring in 2014. Since then, these are various ways students have benefited from my coaching:

• Nearly all the students experienced at least 2 grades' improvement after joining my tuition class.

• Many have turned their grades around from a fail to A.

• Some students have improved from average to the top of the cohort for math.

• All became more confident in mathematics. Many even told me they now love mathematics when they used to dislike or fear the subject.

• Mathematics became the strongest subject for many and some decided to pursue higher level math.

• Students told me they understand better during tuition than classroom lessons.

• Some students solely revise my notes to score A in exams, while some relied solely on attending my classes to score A.

Fee Structure

Group tuition at Centre

• 30 dollars one-time registration fee  
• 320 dollars per four lessons for Sec 3 and IP Year 3 (2h per lesson)
• 320 dollars per four lessons for Sec 4  and IP Year 4 (2h per lesson)
• 380 dollars per four lessons for JC 1 (2h per lesson)
• 400 dollars per four lessons for JC 2  (2h per lesson)
• * Fee for JC student is set upon joining and will remain the same up to A level examination.
