SEW Hut was opened for business in 1982 by Harriet E. McLaughlin, a gracious store owner who was always kept a pot of coffee brewing and was more than happy to share her sewing knowledge with all who wished to learn.
Today, Harriet's daughter, Ingrid, carries on her mother's tradition of down-home service. She strives to maintain a welcoming and supportive store environment where sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels feel right at home, whether they're shopping, socializing, or learning.
Paris Fashion Institute acts as a hands-on guide for a professional living textbook of fashion creation, history and marketing; It utilizes the enormous range of assets available only in Paris, fashion capital of the world.
Patternmaking 1: Slopers course is offered by Made Institute.
This class introduces students to the business of fashion from the perspective of an entrepreneur. You will be introduced to the process of starting your fashion design business, and some of the issues and hurdles you will encounter as a fashion entrepreneur starting a fashion collection or brand.
Sometimes the most frustrating element of sewing is understanding fit. In this class we will take proper body measurements and learn how they correspond with the various pattern brands. We will also learn the terms and techniques commonly used on patterns and how to understand the instructions.
You will learn how to draw fashion figures starting with basic understanding of head proportions, body elements from head to toe, movement, and posture to fashion poses with garments. This workshop will be tailored to all levels even if you are an advanced designer or illustrator.
