This course will provide students with the necessary sewing fundamentals they should understand at the very beginning. These basic skills will teach how to operate their own machine and expand their sewing repertoire.
This course covers such aspects as history of sewing, its origin, industrial revolution, 20th century and today. This course is designed to develop skills beyond the basic construction techniques used with simple patterns and teach how to achieve special touches that can give the garment a couture look.

Admission Requirements
• Grade 12 graduate or mature student status (British Columbia 19 years or older)
• Meet minimum English language proficiency requirements.

Identify the tools and materials required for sewing process.
Design and draft coat pattern and lining pattern using standard measurements.
Select appropriate fashion fabrics, support materials, threads, and closures for garment assembly
List and define standard pattern drafting terminology.
Identify and use standard pattern drafting symbols

Sewcials give you time and a place to join other "Sewcialites" for free-time sewing in our air-conditioned (and heated) workroom. With 2 ironing stations and your own 8-foot table, you'll have room to spread out. All sessions run from 10 am to 4 pm*.
