Previously called “Hip Hop”, our classes are now called Street Dance to show respect toward Hip Hop culture (includes dance, community, music, clothing, and more).
Previously called “Hip Hop”, our classes are now called Street Dance to show respect toward Hip Hop culture (includes dance, community, music, clothing, and more). Our new Street Dance program is based out of an online dance studio with BIPOC artists for whom Hip Hop culture is a lived thing.
We learn different styles of Street dance, such as Dancehall, House, Krump, and Voguing, as well as the history and culture that is involved with each. The focus on Street dance training is to feel the music and feel your classmates – it is a social dance after all!
In Street class we have fun, we groove, we let our bodies move the way THEY want to, and we pay homage to the cultures and people that created these dance styles for us to enjoy.
Dance Alive Studios was created in the summer of 2017 to meet the changing needs of adult dancers in the Saskatoon community. Caelia Gardiner, the owner and Artistic Director of DAS, developed the adult dance program at Juliette’s Dance Centre from 2011 to 2017.
This program has become unique in the field – it provides aspiring adult dancers with progressive levels of focused training at their desired level. Recreational dance is the common stream, but more intense training opportunities are available upon request (group and solo competition, examination, teacher training, etc.).
Looking for a high energy and explosive workout? Join Adult Hip Hop! In this class, there is a focus on hip hop technique blended with urban groove and contemporary movement. Enjoy a very positive and high energy environment to learn, move and expand your movement vocabulary.
SMALLS Hip-Hop is designed to teach your dancer with a wide variety of different hip-hop styles such as old school, commercial, street styles and more!
This urban dance class is characterized by dry and precise movements
Dancers will learn a fun routine to showcase to their parents at the final class and viewing day.
Steps will be put together in combinations that the dancers add on to each week. Style will develop as the dancers feel free to express themselves. The steps are set to popular music (clean versions) that they listen to everyday!
