The ukulele is a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese cavaquinho.

The ukulele, like the cavaquinho, has only 4 strings (while the guitar has 6), due to its size, it sounds in the high register. Tuned, from low to high, G, C, E, A, it can also be tuned in other tones as needed, like the folk guitar in picking technique, often played in open chord varying according to the needs of the song.

Due to its reduced size, it implies that the musician holds his ukulele in a different way from a guitar for example. The fingerings, due to the tuning and the number of strings, imply that they are different from those of the guitar.

  • Guitar fanatic, Éric Tremblay is a native of Quebec. In his early days, he formed an interpretive rock group that performed in bars. Delighted by this experience, his choice of career was destined to his passion. Thus, under the desire to perfect his musical development, he pursued studies at the Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy in music and popular music where he obtained his diplomas. Among his various experiences in the musical world, we can see that he was a concert performer for the “guitar” evenings, that he took part in several competitions and also that he was head of the desk for the Ensemble des Giulianades. Eric was for a long time director of the Claude McKinnon Guitar Societyand affiliate professor. In addition, he acted as a judge at the Concours de musique de la Capitale. He acquired a solid studio experience to accompany a vocal group from Quebec. At the same time, Éric Tremblay, for more than ten years now, has devoted himself fully to teaching and developing musical passion among young people and adults for his instrument, the guitar in its classical or more contemporary, electric form. In 2002, he founded the group Committed Mind , a group of diverse musical influences ranging from alternative rock to metal accompanied by arrangements of a progressive nature. Until now, the group has focused on producing their debut album, which was released in the fall of 2007.
