In this introductory, practical, small group after school camp, students will learn about vectors and how they are used to design and create models.
Laser cutting is becoming more and more important and common in all kinds of technical and non-technical industries. In this introductory, practical, small group after school camp, students will learn about vectors and how they are used to design and create models.
Then, in VISST’s very own on-site Maker Lab, students will learn how to operate a Glowforge machine to cut their designs out of a variety of woods and acrylics to make them come to life.

This camp is for students aged 12+.
Cost
The camp fee is $250 (including taxes and all materials).If the fee is a barrier to your participation, a limited number of bursaries are available for eligible families - please email [email protected] to inquire.

Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops but if you want to borrow one from us, we have a limited number available. Please email us to request one.
All laser cutting materials will be provided.

This basic workshop is a certification class where participants will be shown how to safely use the laser cutters located in the Makerspace.
You will learn about the basics of design and file preparation for laser cutting as well as how to set up a laser-cutter for various types of projects.
Students will learn the basics of how laser cutting works as well as the workflow for designs and cuts on DME-provided materials (cardboard and acrylic).
Laser cutting is a creative and fun way to bring your designs to life on a variety of materials, from wood to acrylic to leather, and there's no better place to do it than a cafe.
In this beginner-friendly class at Saskatoon Makerspace, students will learn the basics of laser cutting and engraving and how to create their own custom designs using design software.
