Study the “science of choice” — learning how limited resources can best be used to meet the needs of individuals and society. You’ll look at how individual consumers choose to spend their time and money, and how producers predict and respond to consumer needs.

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% with no mark less than 60% in 3.0 principal courses, including an average of 70% and no grades less than 60% in the following 2.0 courses.

The program can be completed full-time, part-time, or combined with any other major. The flexibility lets you explore widely or focus more intensively on issues that matter most to you.

Students must qualify for, and receive admission to the program, must remain qualified for continuance in the Beedie School of Business, and must be accepted as a joint honours in the Department of Economics.

In Carleton’s Bachelor of Economics (BEcon), you will study the operation of market-based economies, examining the causes of economic growth, inflation, unemployment and international trade.
