If you already have some background in finance, accounting or auditing, this course will take you deeper inside complex business entities. You'll learn how partnerships, corporations and foreign currency transactions work and how to analyze consolidated financial statements.
You'll learn more about six principal areas of advanced financial accounting: standard-setting in Canada and internationally, financial instruments and income tax allocation, long-term inter-corporate investments, consolidation, foreign currency translation and the translation and consolidation of foreign subsidiaries, and not-for-profit and public-sector accounting.

This course is the first of a two-part, in-depth study that examines the concepts of cost and managerial accounting. Major topics include cost-volume profit-analysis, relevant costs and short-term decision making, responsibility accounting, standard costing and variance analysis.
Throughout this course, students will have many opportunities to practice skills such as recording transactions, completing financial statements and preparing accounting documents for a company.
This 36-hour course instructs students on the use of Simply Accounting’s General Ledger, Payable, Receivables, Inventory and Project Costing Modules. Students learn how to develop a standard set of financial reports.
