This qualification allows learners to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Adult Care in Northern Ireland.
The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care will provide both a practice-based qualification for specific level 4 job roles and will act as a stepping stone towards more senior practice and management.
It is particularly relevant for senior care/support staff, front line managers, assistant/deputy managers, team leaders, area domiciliary care managers and senior day care workers. You will have the option to specialise in Adults' Residential Care or Adult Care.
The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (Northern Ireland) has been approved by Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
Assessment Methods
Learners will build up a portfolio of evidence, this will be in the form of written statements or ‘Reflective Accounts’ along with supporting work products you have produced.
An assessor will visit you in the workplace at some point and undertake observations of you at work. These will be planned in advance in order to cause the minimum disruption to your work routine and to try to capture as much information as possible in each visit.
Entry Requirements
Learners must be 18 years of age or older and be employed in a care role in a full-time, part-time or in a voluntary capacity.
Where students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions. APEL applications must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the start date of the programme.
Careers/Progression
10 out of 10 students would recommend the course to their family and friends. Learners typically progress to our level 5 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. Graduates may find employments as Senior care workers, team leaders and other senior care professions.
