This qualification covers the basic practical skills and knowledge required to work as a beauty therapist within the beauty industry, covering everything from facial treatments and eyebrow enhancement, to manicures and waxing.
Learning primarily takes place in the workplace however as part of your apprenticeship, you are required to attend college for one day a week as part of your studies.
You will learn through classroom based theory lessons, all the under pinning knowledge required to carry out level 2 treatments and through practical demonstrations in the Middlesbrough college beauty academy. You are required to work on fellow apprentices to practice the skills learnt.
A kit is required for the course and is available to purchase from the college.
A uniform must be worn when attending day release and is available to purchase from the college.
Your apprentices will benefit from high-quality teaching and support by qualified and highly experienced industry professionals. Training is delivered in the workplace.
Apprentices will cover:
Promote additional services or products to customers
Salon reception
Provide facial skin care
Remove hair using waxing techniques
Provide manicure treatments
Provide pedicure treatments
Provide eyelash and brow treatments
Apply make-up
Employment rights and responsibilities (ERR)
Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)

Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes

When will I study?
4 days per week with your employer, 1 day per week at College.
What are the entry requirements?
Employment in a suitable role for the chosen apprenticeship is essential. Northern Skills Group will work with applicants to help find a suitable employer where possible but we advise anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship to actively seek employment for themselves.
Applicants are required to have gained a Level 2 English and maths (GCSE Grades A-C). Certificates will need to be produced at enrolment. If proof cannot be produced or you do not meet these entry requirements then applicants will be invited to complete an initial assessment prior to acceptance.
An interview will take place.
If you do not have a grade A to C in English and/or maths (grade 7-4 for new GCSE measures) you will be required to continue studying these subjects.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment of practical skills will be assessed out in the workplace through observations by an assessor.
Knowledge will be assessed through exams for each unit covered.

We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

The aim of the Beauty Therapy apprenticeship is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge needed to progress into roles within the Beauty sector.
This course offers the full Beauty Therapy level 2 Diploma which is recognised by all employers within the industry. Each teaching session is broken down into 3 hours on-site at our centre making this method of study more flexible to fit in with work and family.
Our Beauty Therapy course is the ideal choice for beginners who want to start a career in the beauty industry. Our experienced Beauty Educators will train you in the 5 most popular treatments that will ensure you set off on a successful path in Beauty Therapy.
This course will provide learners with the theoretical knowledge and understanding of beauty therapy at level 2 and 3 and provide the necessary skills and practice to be industry ready by the end of the course.
The programme will help you develop an understanding of the beauty profession and deliver the basic skills and requirements for employment in the industry. Units covered include facials, waxing, manicures, pedicures, make up application, Health and Safety.
