This course is designed to assist students in drawing and design for animation. Students concentrate on observational drawing, sketchbook techniques, and life drawing. In this class students will learn how to put the character and story before the design in order to clarify the fundamentals of the character animation and storytelling.
Students are encouraged to expand their drawing skills and explore interdisciplinary approaches. Beyond class prompts there will be individual assignments to expand skill levels.
Art Center focuses on art education for college preparation. PI was founded in 1986 under the name of Phil Art Studio in New Jersey. It opened its New York city campus in 2005. By 2009,
PI Art Center became an institution authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. Today, PI Art Center is a SEVIS-approved, non-degree granting, private, proprietary, prep school dedicated to educating students who both want to attain the necessary fundamental art skills and basic knowledge to discover their creative and artistic abilities and ultimately will be pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts by providing foundation art courses.
The PI program (Core/BSA/Advanced) is designed to transform every student, even those students with no or limited previous art experience, to become highly trained, disciplined, and well-prepared students for American higher education. As a result of PI program, many international students have been accepted to and attend a prestigious American art institution.
CORE curriculum is designed for students with no or limited previous art experience, and it will allow them to be exposed to various forms of visual arts.
Through 5 different concentrations, or genres, (Fine Art, Digital Media, Photography, Architecture, and Fashion), students will discover their true interest and artistic talent in a specific art field. They can then pursue their BFA degree in their selected field.
Through this curriculum, students will attain the necessary fundamental art skills and basic knowledge to discover their creativity and artistic abilities as they work in a wide range of two-and three dimensional art media.

The Animation and Interactive Media curriculum incorporates courses from several departments including Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography.
This course exposes students to the methods used to achieve high-quality visual effects animation. Tools are learned in context with how they are used in a professional production environment, and problem-solving is critical to coursework.
3D Animation differs from 2D Animation in that it utilizes pre-made character rigs that can be animated with a realistic feel. Using the application Maya, student animations can then be lit and rendered out with a professional and industry-level quality.
Examination of concepts, characters, and storyboards for basic animation production. Emphasis on creating movement and expression utilizing traditional or electronically generated image sequences.
Aspiring animators can join this class for a journey into animation techniques, character development and storytelling. Students will explore figure motion, lip syncing, frame-by-frame and tweening as they take their animation skills to the next level. Â
