This course will be an introduction to American Sign Language – no previous knowledge of ASL required! The course will include introductory vocabulary and grammar, as well as an introduction to Deaf culture.
Start date: Wednesday, October 2, 2018 / 5-8pm
Cost: Sliding scale $0-$50 (no one turned away for lack of ability to pay, D/deaf and Hard of Hearing folks are not expected to pay!)
Registration is limited to a maximum of 14 students (at the request of the teacher).
We will prioritize people who might not otherwise have access to ASL classes due to financial or other reasons. D/deaf and Hard of Hearing folks, as well as disabled people who are wanting to learn ASL for communication reasons not related to hearing loss, will be given priority in terms of places in the class.

This course introduces foundations of American Sign Language including linguistic perspectives, dialogue skill set, vocabulary, and syntax. Instruction may also include sociocultural contexts regarding the Deaf community, culture, and history.
