The Awareness of Brain Injury course provides learners with an understanding of the importance of the brain and the effect that an acquired brain injury or traumatic brain injury can have on an individual.
This course gives learners the knowledge and skills to better understand and support the needs of the individual through their daily lives and the rehabilitation process.
The course introduces some of the basic brain anatomy, but focuses on the effects of brain injury and working with individuals using a person centred approach to promote independence and providing effective support.
Recommended in partnership with ‘An awareness of spinal cord injury’.
Assessment
Learners must demonstrate a willingness to learn and participate in all group activities, case studied and group discussions.
