This 7 hour workshop introduces mindfulness and cognitive behavioral concepts and skills useful in learning to navigate anxiety, depression and unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior that contribute to our stress and suffering.
We explore inquiry, acceptance, non-attachment, compassion and non judgement using dialogue and experiential practices. Body Scan, 3 Minute Breathing Space, Mindfulness Meditation are part of the day together. Guided meditation CD is included.
The British Columbia Association for Living Mindfully (BCALM) is a non-profit society dedicated to education, research and advocacy around the benefits of mindfulness in homes, in schools, and in workplaces throughout BC.

• To offer Mindfulness Based Stress Management education to people in British Columbia who are challenged by stress

• To offer further research into the benefits and effectiveness of mindfulness based interventions on improving the health and wellness of people challenged by stress related disorders
• To advocate for greater access and research into mindfulness based programs and services in our schools, workplaces, health centres and communities

Each class consists of guided meditations and teachings that we can contemplate and practice throughout the week.
Participants will leave this workshop with an understanding of how trauma is defined clinically, what constitutes a traumatic event, and how individuals become traumatized in the first place.
