Course certifies trainees with an Asbestos Awareness Certificate and prepares them for work in environments where individuals may be exposed to asbestos.
Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:
Asbestos Awareness is an Entry Level Core Training course where trainees learn about the health risks of asbestos as well as associated regulations and safe work practices. Please note that this course does NOT prepare workers to work with asbestos directly; it is focused on awareness.
Topics Include:
This 1-day Asbestos Awareness Training is offered in-class. Participants learn relevant provincial and federal asbestos regulations and safe exposure limits as well as the associated long-term health-risks of asbestos exposure.
The instructor discusses which materials are likely to contain asbestos and the differences between friable and non-friable asbestos. This course also covers three different types of asbestos operations (low-risk, medium risk, and high-risk), associated procedures and owner and contractors' responsibilities. Trainees must pass a written exam to receive their certificate.
