Overview
Automotive Technology/Engineering is concerned with vehicle life-cycle support (design, manufacture, performance, and durability testing), ranging from road and off-road vehicles to race cars, vans, trucks, etc. Students enrolled in this course will learn how to apply Mechanical, Thermodynamic, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and Electrical principles to solve engineering problems.
They will learn how to design and produce visual interpretations of automobiles and their components during their studies. They would also be involved in the development of test procedures and the execution of tests using physical testing methods and software packages.
Students will be introduced to various aspects of future vehicle design, technology, and management as part of this study module.
The course will also cover the design, analysis, control, calibration, and operational characteristics of Vehicles.
Programme Objectives
Automobile Technology/Engineering is a very vast subject describing various automobile systems in an automobile like chassis system, suspension, transmission, cooling, lubrication, steering, etc. Special emphasis is laid on various fundamentals of engineering like fluid mechanics, the strength of materials, CAD/CAM/CAE, electrical and electronic systems, and so on. They are trained in how to design the systems and mechanisms of cars.
These professionals have to ensure that automotive designs and systems conform to the quality of the systems and cost specifications. These engineers are trained in how to analyze potential problems in design and work to solve those problems, design, and retest prototypes of cars and car parts, and oversee the manufacturing of automobiles. Computers are a big part of how automotive engineers do their jobs.
