Engineering analysis and design concepts are integrated throughout both programs, culminating in a common major design experience involving a broad range of issues including economic and societal considerations.
The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers two undergraduate degree programs: electrical engineering (EE) and computer engineering (CmpE). Both programs include elective hours, enabling students to individually tailor their programs to provide emphasis in a particular specialization or exposure to a broad range of subjects.

The field of computer engineering is centered in digital design, computer architecture, computer networks and internetworking, and computer applications. The BS CmpE program offers elective courses in a wide variety of specializations, including computer architecture; embedded systems and software; design tools, test, and verification; computer networks and internetworking; distributed systems and software; and VLSI design.
Additionally, students may elect to take advanced courses in other EE specializations, computer science, or programs, such as mathematics, physics, or management. As an alternative to the BS CmpE degree, students may choose a computer engineering specialization within the BS EE degree program.

We Champion
We Support and Adhere to Georgia Tech’s Core Values
Computer engineers specialize in the design of computers, computer systems, and other digitally based hardware devices. Computer engineers must also be proficient in software design.
Computer Engineering is concerned with the application of electrical engineering and computer science principles to the design of computer systems and digital networks.
This certificate program prepares students as entry-level computer specialists. Students will be able to configure and repair personal computers and peripherals as well as gain a basic understanding of networking concepts.
Who designs the bridge between hardware and software? Computer engineers! Graduates of this program go on to analyze and design computers, peripheral devices, or embedded systems such as those found in today’s smart appliances and transportation.
Computer Engineering is one of two BS programs offered by the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Where would we be without computers? Modern computers are complex systems that may consist of single machines or many interconnected computers linked by a network.
