DurationBallet is an art form created by the movement of the human body.
It is theatrical – performed on a stage to an audience utilizing costumes, scenic design and lighting. It can tell a story or express a thought, concept or emotion. Ballet can be magical, exciting, provoking or disturbing.
Types of Ballet
Story ballets (not surprisingly!) tell a story. They contain narrative action, characters, a beginning and an end. The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty are famous story ballets from the 19th century; classic stories and novels such as The Great Gatsby and The Three Musketeers also have been transformed into ballets.
Plotless ballets have no storyline. Instead they use the movement of the body and theatrical elements to interpret music, create an image or express or provoke emotion. Choreographer George Balanchine was a prolific creator of plotless ballets.

Students can also be entered for the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards for students aged 5yrs and above.
We do offer the IDTA Ballet syllabus and focus mostly on younger dancers. We develop the children through the use of Barre work and technical skills training. We develop strength and flexibility, good poise and self-expression.
Classical ballet teaches discipline through the use of technique, strength and grace. The backbone of all dance genres, where control and alignment is established. Wessels Dance studio follows the internationally recognised Cecchetti method.
Ballet Dance Classes are offered by Kimberley Dance Academy for all ages and skill level. Open to everyone, even if you have never danced before!
