3 finger style banjo is alive and well in Oklahoma! Red Dirt banjo lessons in Oklahoma City are available for students 8yo and up. Lessons focus on bluegrass-style banjo and include strumming, rolls, pinches, melodic phrasing, sight-reading, soloing accompaniment, and more.
Lessons are currently happening for the 5 string banjo, but the tenor and other styles can be accommodated.
Red Dirt Music Academy is the creation of Cory Moon, who already had a growing list for private guitar lessons. In 2018, he transitioned from in-home music lessons to in-studio lessons.
Cory received his Bachelor of Music from The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 2008. He continued his education and earned his Masters of Leadership from Mid-America Christian University in 2014.
With a vision to build the music school he wished he had growing up, Cory launched Red Dirt Music Academy with only 30 students in 2018.
Red Dirt Music Academy now aims to impact the students of the OKC metro area each year through lessons, the company band, charitable focus, and online programs.
Cory operates Red Dirt Music Academy with his wife, Tabitha, and the carefully hand picked team of teachers.

Banjo Lessons are offered by Community Music Center. Community Music Center makes high quality music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of financial means. Classes are offered on a sliding scale and some are completely tuition-free.
