About Us
Chris Wenz and Susan Rubino are sisters, working together to make your quilt the best it can possibly be. Over the Top Quilting Studio is the love of quilting by sisters and their Mom working together.
Our mission – A Journey in Fabric: We have been in business since 2001 and quilters since 1976!
Ready to start the wonderful journey of creating (or finishing) your quilt?
How does Over The Top Quilting Studio understand your needs? Our unique consultation assures we learn about you and the person who will receive the finished quilt. We listen to you so the result is your quilt. Your dream quilt top is enhanced with customized design. Your T- Shirt blocks are artfully designed by our experienced quilters. Your memory quilt comes alive when we collaborate with you to meet your dreams.
To create your quilt we apply what we’ve learned in 40 years of quilting, in creation of hundreds of quilts of all types and sizes, and what we’ve learned from working with hundreds of quilters and clients. We use the highest quality materials on your quilt.
Chris Wenz: Chris is a quilter, designer, and artist. She lives in Cedar Park, Texas. Chris is an experienced businesswoman and a dervish of creative energy. She may surprise you with her expansive and exciting creative ideas.
Susan Rubino: Susan is also a quilter, designer, and artist. She lives in Austin, Texas. Susan is an experienced executive and businesswoman.
Thelma Macaluso: Mom was our creative genesis. Born in 1920, Mom was active and vibrant with her unique fabric art creations, coupled with her oil paintings and love of all things art. She also was our chief binder and “frogger,” removing any errant or unwanted stitching. We miss Mom very, very much. Born in Philadelphia, she married and raised her family in Queens, NY. She was an often resident of Central Texas. Mom died April 18, 2020. She was in her 100th year and 3 months from her 100th birthday. Our hearts are broken. She remains in our hearts and her memory will always be in the Studio.
Our Studio:
We opened our APQS Studio in Central Texas in early 2015. Please come visit us, meet other quilters, see our wide array of longarm quilting products, and marvel at the precision and capability of our APQS longarm quilting machines. Interested?

This reversible bag pattern is the perfect project for learning basic sewing skills while getting cozy with a sewing machine. We’ll cover and refine, cut, pin, sew, snip, press, and repeat so that you can walk away with a finished bag that suites your style.
Little Sewers – Dog Blankets & Fashion course is offered by Factory Fashion.
This introduction to the sewing machine is a “crash course” on determining if your child feels comfortable with the idea of sewing. Before you (the Parent) invest in sewing classes, let your child “practice” on cutting and sewing a simple project. We go over basic sewing “safety rules”.
In this class we will show you how to use your sewing machine in a more proficient manor. You will sew using all functions and attachments with your machine, and learn some new techniques. Also we will demonstrate how to maintain (not service or repair) a proper working machine
