This 5 day Basic Safety Training course is aimed at anyone wishing to work at sea, whether on a commercial vessel, super or mega yacht, work boats, ferries, cruise liners, offshore etc.
Our students range from existing seafarers, security operatives, stewardesses, chefs, deckhands, wind farm operatives.
Courses are delivered with a mixture of theory and practically based exercises with the emphasis is on realism. All courses are delivered by extremely experienced instructors, all of whom are serving or ex-fire service officers, with a maritime background having served at maritime training centres in the UK and Europe.
The Basic Safety Training course comprises of 4 modules:
Seafarers now also require Proficiency in Security Awareness (STCW A-VI/6-1), which is an additional certification. However, we include this course in our Basic Safety Training week for free. This means that when students complete the 5 day Basic Safety Training with us, they will have gained all of the basic certifications required to work on a vessel.
Fire Aid delivers training courses approved and accredited by the UK MCA and the Republic of Marshall Islands flag registries. We are proud members of the British Marine Federation, Superyacht UK Association and British Fire Services Association.
This course is accredited by the MCA and provides part of the statutory basic training requirements for seafarers.
The STCW Basic Safety Course is the legal mandatory training required for anyone looking to work on board commercial vessels over 24 meters in length, including Cruise Ships and Yachts.
This course provides teaching that will help delegates theory development on STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness. This course ensures that delegates will leave with the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements that are set out in the STCW code.
This course will be physically demanding and therefore you will be required to complete a fitness declaration.
STCW requires all seafarers to receive familiarization and basic safety training or instruction in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code. The minimum requirements for familiarization and basic safety training are contained within the Basic Safety Training Week (BSTW).
