Entry Requirements

In order to improve outcomes, all candidates in the Basic Scaffolding course will be required to show completion of RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights unit. This can be completed through Breight Education prior to the start of the basic scaffold course. 

If you already hold this unit you will need to provide the Statement Of Attainment to the Training Administration Team. Candidates must have a basic level of understanding of math and English and will be required to pass a simple Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test before commencing this course. Participants must be physically able to:

  • Undertake manual handling tasks

  • Work at Heights

  • Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age

 

Career Opportunities

Course completion may lead to employment in the Scaffolding industry, across the construction, mining and oil & gas sectors. On completion of the unit participants may undertake further studies in scaffolding.

 

Objectives

To give the attendees such knowledge and skills that enables them to inspect, erect, alter and dismantle basic scaffolding structures.

 

Content

We have aligned and modelled this training program on International Best Practice Standards as well as meeting Worksafe and Unit of Competency requirements.  Breight Education scaffolding programs are internationally quality reviewed and Audited by Safety & Access – UK.  You will be exposed to and trained in a range of “gold standard” skills highly sought after in the scaffolding industry.

CPCCLSF2001 Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level consists of:

  • Australian Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practice

  • AS/NZ 1576 & 4576 Guidelines

  • Safe Handling/transportation and inspection of materials (Manual Handling)

  • Preventing Falls in Scaffolding/tethering and dropped object prevention

  • Introduction Tube and Coupler components and builds 

  • 10 Scaffold Builds conducted (5 additional realistic workplace learning builds)

  • Safe Use and Inspection of Safety Harnesses

  • Ropes, Knots & Hitches

  • Types and Uses of Tube, Fittings, and Boards

  • Assessing Material Requirements for Basic Scaffolds

  • Safe Access, dismantling, and storage Methods

  • Interpretation of Simple Drawings

  • Erect & Dismantle Basic & Bracket Scaffolds:

  • Independent (With Return)

  • Tower (Static and Mobile)

  • Birdcage

  • Cuploc

  • Ringlok

  • Steel mobile scaffold

  • Alterations to Scaffolds

  • Practical Assessment Tasks

  • Knowledge Assessment Tasks

 

Assessment

A candidate cannot be deemed competent for the unit unless they are able to demonstrate satisfactory performance (to the required level) in all assessment tasks.  Each candidate has a maximum of two additional opportunities to demonstrate competency without additional fees applying.

 

Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Support

Breight Education provides appropriate learner support to all students through its assessment delivery, applying reasonable adjustment to assessment where the student experiences learning difficulties.

A Language literacy and numeracy assessment will be requested prior to the commencement of the course in order to determine if any additional support is required.  Programs and materials can then be adjusted to support the candidate if needed. 

All reasonable adjustments are carried out in a manner that maintains the integrity of the unit of competency.
