The basic training course is the government-approved course you need before you can take your exam and get your provincial security license. With our training, you’ll master all the basics, but you’ll also learn advanced patrol techniques, how to handle challenging people and situations, and how to apply crisis management strategies.
Our Story
Over the past decade, there’s been a big gap in security guard training in Canada.
While demand for private security training was on the rise, no one had the technology and expertise to deliver quality training in a convenient online format. Companies and prospective security guards needed trustworthy, high-quality training and modern, sophisticated technology to deliver it. They needed support from end-to-end.
That’s why Canadian Academy of Guard Training was born.
CAGT formed when We Know Training acquired the Law Enforcement and Security Training Academy of Canada, founded by the late William Allan Dryburgh — a Canadian authority in security guard training.
Dryburgh authored the foundational security guard curriculum adopted across provinces. Since 2007, his courses have been the template for training security service workers to get licensed. Dryburgh’s work to advance the professionalism of security services has elevated the national industry.
Today, CAGT is provincially approved and licensed to provide top-tier security training across Canada. We have over 15 years of experience in the industry, and we’ve trained over 30,000 guards (and counting).
To train newly inducted Security Guards as per guidelines given by Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
The security guard training program goes far beyond the mandatory requirement set by the ministry. The Ministry has a requirement that must be completed by each student in order to qualify for the exam.
Each year thousands of employees across the country are injured by the machines they are most familiar with and believe are safe to use without safety guards. In fact, OSHA estimates that lack of machine guarding is the second most frequent safety violation in industry today.
To become a great security guard who excels at their job, start with a solid foundation. Other security guard courses will teach you the bare minimum, but our training course will prepare you for your first job and give you confidence.
This course provides attendees with knowledge to recognize hazards of machinery and equipment’s moving and rotating parts such as belts, pulleys, shafts, gears and chains.
