Our Story
Knit Craft, Lit Craft
Weird Sisters is a neighborhood yarn shop located in St. Johns, Portland, Oregon. We sell our yarns in a shared space with a friendly neighborhood bookstore. Books and yarn in one place?! Yup, we got you.
We focus on serving our local knitting and crochet community by providing a small but carefully chosen selection of quality yarns. Our yarns are sourced from select conscientious american producers and local makers in the PNW area whenever possible. Visit us in downtown St. Johns to see our selection!
Yarn Destiny
Our name is inspired by the Witches of Shakespeare's Scottish Play and the Three Fates that spin the thread of destiny. Weird Sisters isn't just about selling yarn, we want to inspire and support the outsiders, the readers, the witches, the dreamers, and everyone else throughout their creative journey.
We strive to provide opportunities for fiber education and accessible quality products for yarn crafters of all kinds while building relationships that last. We welcome all and invite you to come learn with us.
Start with the basic machine knitting techniques and stitches including cast-on, cast-off, stripe, increasing, decreasing, ribbing, and cables. You will put together a binder of knit swatches. No need to own your own machine, PFI provides the machines and tools for this class.
Explore Strip Quilting, Half Square Triangles and Mitered Borders. Jayne will provide fabric on day one for you to practice these skills and review basic skills from Beginning Quilting 1. Come with whatever quilt project you would like to work on. Come ready to cut or pre-cut and ready to start sew...
If you love knitwear, knitting and learning new skills, you'll love this workshop! You'll learn the basics of knitting on a flatbed hobby knitting machine provided by the instructor and will make three or more projects during this six-week workshop.
In this class you will learn the tools, techniques, and skills required to create your very first crochet project. Open to ages 10 and up.
You will learn how to make t-shirt yarn, and then learn the basics of crochet including the chain stitch, single crochet stitch, crocheting a circle, increasing stitches, and how to finish off/add to your project.
