The Heart and Stroke BLS Provider Course (formerly HCP-C) is intended for those who work in the health care professions. This course focuses on the delivery of high-quality CPR to improve survival outcomes.
Knowing how to respond and what is involved in the delivery of high-quality CPR is essential. Participants practice using high quality feedback manikins to achieve proficiency in the delivery of BLS skills.
Students practice ventilating using a Bag-Valve-Mask and become familiar with the AED device. Adult, child and infant skills are practiced with an emphasis also placed on choking.
The Heart and Stroke BLS course is approved by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alberta Health Services (AHS), follows ILCOR guidelines and as per the Heart and Stroke you must renew your certificate yearly. Please review the topics of this course.

Breath for Life has an AED onsite. This AED is quality maintained and accessible in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. Breath for Life takes Health and Safety seriously and is prepared in the event that an emergency occurs. We do not compromise and this is also apparent in the cleanliness of the Breath for Life facility.
This level of CPR is ideal for those working in or planning to work in the health care field.
Basic Life Support (BLS) teaches participants how to respond to emergences with basic life support skills.
Students will be provided with the skills needed to recognize and respond to emergencies for adults, children and infants for one and two rescuers.Â
This course introduces participants to Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support.
You may also benefit from having your Basic Life Support level if you are a professional with a fire service or rescue team, a sports medicine professional, a lifeguard or a ski patroller. If you are not a first responder or medical professional, you may need CPR Level A or C.
