Breaking is known for its use of footwork. It consists of four primary elements: toprock, downrock, freezes, and power moves. Breaking is a popular form of street dance that was created and developed as part of Hip Hop culture of the 1970s in New York City.
Students will go over the basics of breaking. They will learn toprocking, ground moves, technique and power moves.
This Breaking program is for students to dance, have fun and express themselves in a creative, safe and supportive environment. Students will learn about Hip-Hop culture, the street dance, Breaking (Breakdance), as well its history, values, and cultural influence.
