Computer engineers specialize in the design of computers, computer systems, and other digitally based hardware devices. Computer engineers must also be proficient in software design. Applications of computer engineering can be found in communications systems, transportation vehicles, robotics, and consumer electronics, to name just a few.
With a BS in computer engineering from Seattle University, students are uniquely positioned to advance computing technology through skills gained in hardware and software design, and most importantly, a co-design of the two, also known as systems integration. Through courses that support innovation and active learning, students will build a strong foundation in circuits and electronics, embedded systems, computer networks, machine learning, and software associated with computing systems.
Founded in 1891, Seattle University is a Jesuit Catholic university located on a beautiful campus of more than 50 acres in the dynamic heart of Seattle.

Computer Engineering embodies the science and technology of design, construction, implementation, and maintenance of software and hardware components of modern computer systems and computer-controlled equipment.
Computer engineering is concerned with the characterization, design, analysis and implementation of hardware, software and the overall architecture of computers and computer systems, and with the development of applications enabled by such configurations.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering (CMPE), offered by the Department of Computer Engineering, goes beyond programming to include engineering methodologies and hands-on project experience.Â
Computer Engineering is concerned with the application of electrical engineering and computer science principles to the design of computer systems and digital networks.
This certificate program prepares students as entry-level computer specialists. Students will be able to configure and repair personal computers and peripherals as well as gain a basic understanding of networking concepts.
